Mommy & daddy came home late from taking Juneau to his puppy vet appointment. Our vet hospital is also an emergency pet hospital. Juneau had a 7:30 appointment, but he didn't get seen to almost 9:00pm. That wasn't what made mommy upset. She said that when she had Shanna & had an emergency with her, she was on the other side of the waiting watch so she knew what it was like & didn't mind waiting while more important cases were seen. 2 people came running in that their dogs were out loose & chased another dog & got hit by a car. The grown dog was brought in dead. The younger dog/pup was brought in through the back & had go right into surgery. The people did not stick around to see the outcome. Mommy was upset that people let the dogs out to run around without supervision so that there would be an opportunity for a disaster to happen. Also, know one knows if they were actually the owners or the ones who hit the dogs with their truck since they didn't stick around while the puppy was being worked on. Another family came in with their dog to say 'good-bye' to it. Mommy was upset because she said that she knew what they were going through. It brought back to many memories. Well, at least the night ended up on a good note for us. Juneau gained 4 lbs. - no wonder mommy has a hard time lifting him! He got his next round of puppy shots. Next time, she told me, I will be going with Juneau cuz I need my yearly shots. I don't want to share his time, can I put it off - oh, no - no shots!!!!
P.S. (Tuesday, 7/24) Mommy called our vet to find out if the puppy that was taken into surgery had survived. He did & he went home with his owners yesterday. His owners left when they brought the dogs in from the accident, because as they told our vet, they were having financial difficulties which they later resolved. Oh well, as mommy says, the world is made up of all kinds of people-some with more common sense than others. I know that if Juneau or I were very badly hurt, mommy or daddy would not leave right away until they knew we would be on the road to recovery.
Happy New Year!

What a sad story :-( Glad to hear Juneau is doing so well, you will have to be brave for the little guy!

Hey Cosmos. Yes, the printer was hard work and I'm willing to share my omlettes.
What a night your parents had, and little Juneau too. Your vet visit should not be so bad, don't you like your vet? I love mine, he gives me hugs and kisses and cuddles me when I get my shots.

Okay, this is Missy, MayaMarie's "older" sister. Cosmos, you need to know that your peaceful days are numbered. Little Juneau is getting into so much puppy stuff. Oh, just until he starts pulling your tail, biting your ears, and telling your "roo roo ahrooo" and jumps on you. The only place I can get away from her is under the kitchen table. You need to find your safe place. These pups don't understand, sometimes we need a little peace and quite. I'll keep checking on you.
Missy
Oh no, I am sorry to hear about the doggies that got hurt. Sometimes some humans just don't need to be trusted with dogs if they can't keep them safe. Well, I am glad that Juneau is doing well and gained some weight! Woo Hoo!
Hugs,
Sitka ;)
Cosi remembers his days as a stray and is very lucky not to be one of those doggies who got hit a car. Wow, time for that yearly check-up already! Time sure flies. You be a brave boy, Cosi, and show Juni how to behave at the vet's office. We remember when we took you to MaPaw's vet - you were so sick that you had a #2 accident in the exam room. We're glad those days are over and those shots will keep you healthy!
Maybe your vet will give you a treat during the shots. That's what our vet does and it's not so bad.

Oh, how sad! Prayers for those dogs and their people!
Wooo, glad the puppy that was hit made it. I lost my first companion, Rosie, that way. She was gone in minutes, though... an instant angel! (I think she's the one that came to get Sherman, too.)
That was a loooong time for Juneau to wait, he must be a very patient puppy.
Good luck with your shots. just close your eyes, it's over quicker that way.
wooos,
Star
Oh....those poor dogs. I'm so glad my Mom & Dad hold on tight to our leashes! Those cars out there are bigger than we are and they bite! Good boy Juneau for being so brave. And Cosi...keep your eyes on the treat jar when you're there. And look pathetic and sad. And kiss the vet tech. Works like a charm. I start working the room the minute I arrive. Today I had 2 girls on the floor fawning over me. It's a tough life but somebuddy's gotta do it.

Hey fellow Pittsburghers! What a sad story. That kind of stuff makes my heart hurt. I get so upset when I see dogs running loose...it's just a matter of time before the worst happens.
Your pups are beautiful!! Looking forward to reading more of their adventures.

Sad, sad, SAD! Check out this letter in our local paper, about our vets: http://www.themercury.com/news/article.aspx?articleId=fbd9585bec18435bbbcd1c6ca8ebdd4b. Sorry I don't know how to do a hyperlink there. Anyroo, all our bipeds kept thinking was "how could this have been avoided?" All it takes is a LEASH! A LEASH! What a novel concept! And the guy blames the vets rather than himself for being such an idiot! Grrrr!
Tail wags to you & your mama!
Stormy
